Let me first preface this review by saying this is my first read of The Mortal Instruments. I have been watching a ton of YouTube reviews and reading a ton of blogs. Many people who love my favorite books also love this series. They even rank it up among my favorite series, Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. Seeing how much people loved it, some even more than some of my favorites, I knew I had to read them. Needless to say, my expectations were pretty high.
So...
WOW. What can I say?
The Mortal Instruments started off with City of Bones, which was fantastic. I didn't really think it was going to get any better from there. I actually expected CoA to be worse or at least just the same.
But...
WOW. It was fantastic. I loved this even more the City of Bones. I loved the world building in this novel - especially the scenes in the faerie court even though it was oh so heart breaking.
There were just so many things I loved about this book. Cassandra Clare can definitely write a good story. But for those of you who haven't read it yet? Beware. The tension in this book is so thick, I could feel it.
And that end? Can we say cliffhanger? And, poor Clary. (I have a theory that might help her, though.)
Now onto City of Glass. (and really NOW! I want/need some resolution).
5/5 Stars. Fantastic!
